In a major boost to Nigerian club football, eight-time NPFL champions Enyimba International FC have announced the signing of veteran striker Brown Ideye.
The 35-year-old forward, who has enjoyed a distinguished career both locally and internationally, joins the Aba-based team to bolster their options for the rest of the 2024/2025 season.
Brown Ideye, known for his goal-scoring prowess and experience, brings a wealth of talent to Enyimba. Having previously played for top clubs like Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, and Olympiacos, Ideye’s signing is seen as a statement of intent by Enyimba to reclaim their dominance in domestic and continental competitions.
“We are delighted to officially announce the addition of former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye to our fold,” the club shared on its official X platform. “We are confident in the experience and professionalism he will bring to our remaining matches this season, especially under the guidance of our new coach.”
In his first statement as an Enyimba player, Ideye shared his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career:
““I’m proud to be part of this great club. Enyimba’s history speaks for itself, and I’m ready to give my best to help the team achieve its goals.”
Ideye, who was part of Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, has had an illustrious career. With over 30 caps for the Super Eagles, he has been a consistent performer on the international stage.
Ideye, who has been without a club since leaving Kuwait’s Al Yarmouk in 2022, will wear the number 34 jersey at Enyimba.
