Enyimba secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage on Sunday evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The Nigerian champions, who had a rocky start to their campaign with two losses and a draw in their first three matches, delivered a commanding performance to keep their continental hopes alive.
Joseph Atule opened the scoring for the hosts as early as the 6th minute. The lead did not last long with Ifoni drawing the visitors level in the 12th minute.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele resored the lead with a well-taken goal on the stroke of half time, further asserting Enyimba’s dominance throughout the match.
Newly unveiled signing Brown Ideye, scored his first goal for Enyimba to make it 3-1 before Atule scored his second of the evening to compile more misery on the visitors.
This emphatic win not only marks Enyimba’s first victory in the group stage but also revitalizes their campaign, keeping their hopes alive for advancing to the knockout stages. The team’s performance was a testament to their resilience and determination to overcome early setbacks in the tournament.
Enyimba will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures, aiming to secure further positive results and advance beyond the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
