The EuroBasket 2025 Round of 16 produced a dramatic day of basketball across Europe on Sunday, with star performances and shock results setting up mouthwatering quarterfinal clashes.
In Riga, Luka Dončić put on a masterclass, scoring 42 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to power Slovenia past Italy 84–77. Dončić set the tone early with 22 first-quarter points, and despite Italy’s late fightback, Slovenia held firm to book a quarterfinal showdown against Germany.

Elsewhere, Georgia delivered the upset of the tournament so far, toppling 2022 finalists France 80–70. Tornike Shengelia and Kamar Baldwin scored 24 points apiece as Georgia shot over 52% from the field and converted 20 of 24 free throws. France endured a miserable night from deep, making just six of 36 attempts. Georgia now meets Finland in the next round.
Poland also advanced, overcoming Bosnia & Herzegovina 80–72. Jordan Loyd led the charge with 28 points, while Mateusz Ponitka added 19 points and 11 rebounds. Despite 20 points from Jusuf Nurkić, Bosnia could not match Poland’s balanced offense.
In another thriller, Giannis Antetokounmpo carried Greece past Israel 84–79, posting 37 points and 10 rebounds. Greece will now face Lithuania in what promises to be a heavyweight clash in the last eight.
With Sunday’s results, the quarterfinal lineup is complete:
Greece vs. Lithuania
Turkey vs. Poland
Germany vs. Slovenia
Georgia vs. Finland
The stage is set for two days of high-stakes basketball on September 9–10 in Riga, where Europe’s elite will battle for a place in the semifinals.
