David Moyes has returned to Everton for a second spell as manager, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park. The 61-year-old Scot replaces Sean Dyche, who was sacked on Thursday.
Moyes expressed his delight at returning to the club:
“I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.”
3 reasons why Everton sacked Sean Dyche
Everton are currently struggling in 16th place in the Premier League, just one point clear of the relegation zone. With only three wins from 19 games this season, Moyes acknowledged the challenge ahead, emphasizing the importance of fan support.
“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season, so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team,” he said.
Moyes previously managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, before managing Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham (twice).
He won the Europa Conference League with West Ham in 2023 and has been out of work since leaving the London club at the end of last season.
