Alex Iwobi has told Fulham fans to expect more from Samuel Chukwueze after the winger bagged a brace against Manchester City on Tuesday night in a thrilling Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.
The Super Eagles winger came off the bench in the second half to score two brilliant goals as Fulham narrowly lost to the visitors.
Chukwueze’s brace almost ignited a comeback, but Manchester City held on to a 5-4 win after taking up a 5-1 lead at the start of the second half.
Samuel Chukwueze, the AC Milan loanee, has received commendations from fans and teammates, including Alex Iwobi, his Super Eagles colleague, for his performance on the night.
Iwobi revealed to the media after the match that Chukwueze does a lot of “crazy stuff” in training and he is happy he is replicating it on the pitch.
“His nickname in the training ground is Chukwu-magic. When he’s in training, he’s pulling off some crazy stuff, and most importantly, he’s doing it on the pitch.”
“Of course, we need everyone, but he’s one player that we should look out for. I like to feed him with the ball because I know he’s always going to create something, and the fans will take to him.
“As long as he keeps his head down and remains consistent, we’re always going to back him.”
Alex Iwobi went on to express his disappointment as their late charge against Manchester City didn’t yield a result, but remains positive ahead of Crystal Palace’s visit this weekend.
“I am disappointed because we didn’t get anything out of the fighting spirit that we showed, but we have to take the positivity from the game.
“We showed our fighting spirit in the second half, but unfortunately, nothing to show for it,” Iwobi revealed.
He added: “The manager said at half-time, we cannot let our heads drop no matter what the score is, we have to keep on fighting. To be fair to the fans, they were with us until the last minute of the game.
“We put on a show for the people watching, but unfortunately, like I said, it wasn’t the result we wanted.
“It was almost like the 12th member on the pitch so they were giving us that energy, and it was fueling us to go forward and attack.
“Credit to them, but also credit to us and the staff and everyone that’s involved, we were able to keep pushing to the last minute of the game.”
Meanwhile, Fulham’s Alex Iwobi. Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze have been listed in Nigeria’s preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for December 21 – January 18.
The trio is expected to make the final list as the Super Eagles, after missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, look to replicate or improve on their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations feat.
