Moroccan referee Jayed Jalal will be the center referee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Amavubi of Rwanda and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Jayed Jalal officiated Super Eagles’ 2-1 win over Ghana’s Black Stars in an international friendly match on March 22, 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco.
Jalal became a FIFA accredited referee in 2019 and officiated during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
Mostapha Akarkad and Hamza Nassiri will assist the 37-year-old referee as the first and second assistant referees respectively.
Rwanda will host the the Super Eagles – three time African champions at the magnificent Amahoro Stadium in Kigali- the nations’ capital on Friday, 21 March at 5 p.m. local time but 6 p.m. Rwandan time.
The Amavubi lead Group C with seven points while the Super Eagles are next to bottom with just three points from their opening four matches in the qualification series.
Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles must secure maximum points on Friday to get their qualification for the 2026 World Cup back on track.
