City dominated the opening proceedings and after just 10 minutes, their early pressure told, as new signing Rayan Aït-Nouri threaded an inch-perfect pass through for Jérémy Doku, who stepped inside and found the far corner.
Their joy was short-lived lived though, and City only had themselves to blame, as Ederson’s loose pass was pounced upon by Teun Koopmeiners, who strode forward and drilled an effort into the corner.
City were back in front soon after as Matheus Nunes drilled the ball across the face of goal, and Juve defender Pierre Kalulu, under no pressure whatsoever, incredibly turned the ball into the back of his own net.
Omar Marmoush and Aït-Nouri forced Michele Di Gregorio into fine saves before the break as Guardiola’s men looked for a third.
Erling Haaland came on in the second half and promptly made it 3-1. Further goals from substitute Phil Foden and Savinho completed City’s 5-star performance, and even a late Dusan Vlahovic goal wasn’t enough to take the shine off a big win.
In the group’s other encounter, Al Ain ended their CWC journey on a positive note, defeating Wydad 2-1 and avoid finishing bottom of the group.
