The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, have moved up one spot in the latest FIFA rankings, despite a disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe last month.
According to the April FIFA rankings released on Thursday, the Super Eagles are now ranked 43rd in the world, up from 44th.

The improvement comes after Nigeria secured a win and a draw in their March 2025 games. They defeated Rwanda 2-0 in their 2026 World Cup qualifier, before the draw against Zimbabwe.
Although the result against Zimbabwe dealt a blow to their World Cup qualification hopes, the win over Rwanda was enough to lift them in the rankings.
The Super Eagles maintain their position ahead of South Africa, the leaders of their qualifying group, who also moved up one place to 56th in the world. Nigeria also remains ahead of Ghana, now ranked 76th.
Meanwhile, Morocco continues to lead the African rankings, moving up two places to become the 12th best nation in the world.
