Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has become one of the summer’s most closely watched transfer sagas, with Fiorentina and Trabzonspor both showing genuine interest in the 25-year-old forward. He arrived in England on the back of a stunning campaign with Belgian side Genk, where he won both the Golden Boot as the Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer and the Ebony Shoe as the division’s best African player, finishing the season with 21 goals and six assists.
That form made his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers one of the more anticipated arrivals in England last summer, yet his time at Molineux has been a struggle. His future has been in further doubt since the club’s relegation from the Premier League and the return of former striker Raul Jimenez. These developments have prompted a rebuild and left the Nigerian striker seeking a fresh start after a difficult debut season, in which he managed just three goals and one assist in 33 league appearances.
Football transfers expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Wolves rejected a proposal from Fiorentina, while a separate offer from Trabzonspor also failed to convince the player. The Turkish side had earlier submitted an official loan bid and reportedly made significant progress in talks before the deal stalled.
Trabzonspor sees Arokodare as a possible replacement for compatriot Paul Onuachu, who has been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, while Besiktas and Fenerbahce have also been credited with interest in Turkey.
Fiorentina’s entry into the race has intensified the competition. The Serie A club endured a tough season and are looking to bolster their attack, setting up a genuine battle between the Italian side and multiple Turkish suitors for the striker’s signature.
Wolves, however, want to keep Arokodare as they push for an immediate return to the Premier League, valuing him at over €20 million and showing no willingness to lower their price. The club remain open to a sale or loan only if an offer meets that valuation.
Reports on the player’s own preference remain mixed, with some reports suggesting he wants to stay in England for now, while others point to momentum building for a move to Turkey.
