Getafe produced a spirited performance at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Monday night, defeating Sevilla 2–1 in a La Liga clash that carried strong Nigerian interest.
Christantus Uche, at the center of a high-profile transfer saga, traveled with the Madrid side amid speculation about his future, while compatriots Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke were handed starting roles for Sevilla. The contest proved gripping, with Getafe making the most of their limited possession to secure all three points.
Adrián Liso opened the scoring for the visitors in the 15th minute, rifling home from outside the box after neat work by Luis Milla. Sevilla equalized just before halftime when Getafe’s Juan Iglesias diverted the ball into his own net, giving the home fans renewed hope.

Liso struck again six minutes into the second half—this time with his left foot—to restore Getafe’s lead, which they would hold onto despite Sevilla dominating possession with more than 70% of the ball.
Adams and Ejuke both worked tirelessly in attack for Sevilla, but they found chances hard to come by against a compact Getafe defense that limited the hosts to just three shots on target.
Meanwhile, Uche’s involvement was more symbolic than decisive; the midfielder’s desire to feature was overshadowed by ongoing negotiations over a potential €20 million move to Wolves.
The win continued Getafe’s strong start to the season, leaving them among La Liga’s early pacesetters.
