Nigerian forward Gift Orban has arrived in Germany to finalize his transfer to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
The 21-year-old, who was deemed surplus to requirements by Olympique Lyon, is expected to complete a move worth around €10 million.
Orban joined Lyon last year for a fee of €14 million, including bonuses, after an impressive spell at KAA Gent. However, he struggled to adapt to life in France, scoring just five goals in 21 appearances.
Hoffenheim, currently 15th in the Bundesliga standings, emerged as a potential lifeline for Orban, and reports indicate that only minor details remain before the deal is completed.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Lyon’s demands have been met after several rounds of negotiations.
Once the formalities are concluded, Orban will join Hoffenheim, bringing an end to his underwhelming spell at Lyon.
The Nigerian forward will now aim to revive his career in the Bundesliga and return to the Super Eagles fold.
