Harvey Elliot’s 87th-minute goal secured a late win for Liverpool as the Reds survived PSG’s onslaught at Parx Des Princes on Wednesday night.
It was a game defined by a very tiny margin as Arne Slot’s men left Paris unscathed despite PSG’s waves of relentless attack on Liverpool’s defense.
The Reds fielded 15 players on the night, but only two showed up: Alison Becker, with countless saves, and Harvey Elliot, who scored the winner.
Luis Enrique’s men dominated proceedings as they registered ten shots on targets but none went past Allison.
The Brazilian keeper was outstanding in between the sticks as he made a handful of saves to deny Ousmane Dembele, Kvaratkshelia, Doue, and others from finding the back of the net.
Khvicha Kvaratkshelia scored in the 20th minute from Vitinha’s pass as he buried the ball into the bottom corner.
However, after a VAR review, his goal was disallowed for offside.
Mohammed Salah and Luiz Diaz had average performances on the night, as the Reds registered no shots on target until Elliot’s introduction late in the second half.
The English midfielder came on for Mohammed Salah and scored the winner moments later to give Liverpool a smash-and-grab winner ahead of the second leg at Anfield.
