Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes 17-year-old midfielder Ethan Nwanneri is ready to become a regular in the first team after his impressive performances over the past week.
Nwanneri scored the second goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Preston North End in midweek and made an impressive cameo off the bench in the defeat to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
His goal against Preston was a stunner, curling into the top corner from distance, and Arsenal fans are unsurprisingly keen for the wonderkid to be rewarded with more regular opportunities by Arteta.
After the defeat to Newcastle, Arteta highlighted the positives, insisting that Nwanneri is now ready to stake his place for a first-team shirt.
“He’s there. He’s showing every day what he’s capable of.
“You see his teammates, they give the ball all the time. That’s a great sign. We’ve got some player there.
“He’s a big talent, he’s got the right attitude, he’s got the right players and context around him and we need to make sure that we put brick by brick.”
Up next for Arsenal is a tasty clash against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
