Manchester United have completed the acquisition of 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal. The deal, finalized on February 1, 2025, sees Heaven committing to a contract that extends until June 2029, with an option for an additional year.
Heaven, an England Under-19 international, joined Arsenal’s academy in 2019. Over his tenure, he amassed 37 appearances across the under-21 and under-18 teams and featured in 10 UEFA Youth League matches over the past two seasons.
He made his senior debut for Arsenal in October 2024 during a 3-0 League Cup victory over Preston North End and was listed as a substitute in three Premier League fixtures.
Despite being highly regarded by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Heaven declined a contract extension, citing limited first-team opportunities. This decision paved the way for his transfer to Manchester United, who reportedly paid a substantial compensation fee to secure his services.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Heaven stated, “I’m incredibly proud to join Manchester United. This is a monumental step in my career, and I’m committed to developing and becoming the best player I can be.”
Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, identified Heaven as a key target, making him his inaugural signing. Heaven is expected to integrate into the first-team squad immediately, bolstering United’s defensive options as they prepare to host Crystal Palace in an upcoming Premier League match.
This transfer marks the second time in recent seasons that Manchester United have acquired a promising talent from Arsenal’s youth system, following the signing of Chido Obi-Martin last year.
