Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised winger Savinho after their 5-0 Champions League win over Sparta Praha.
Savinho was outstanding playing on the right wing as he tormented the Sparta defence repeatedly. He set up Erling Haaland’s first goal with excellent work and Guardiola was full of praise for his recruit.
Guardiola’s Praise
“He’s playing really good,” Guardiola said. “He’s a winger who can play on both sides… being just three months with us, his level is really, really, really high.”
Guardiola credited Savinho’s development to his former coach, Míchel, at Girona.
“It’s thanks to the work of Míchel at Girona – he has done it.”
City opened the scoring thanks to Phil Foden before star striker Haaland scored a brace to make it 44 Champions League goals in 44 appearances, and 13 goals in 12 appearances for the season. Goals from John Stones and Matheus Nunes sealed the convincing victory.
The Premier League champions are back in domestic action against Southampton at the Etihad on Saturday as they look to keep pace with Liverpool at the top.
