Barcelona forward Raphinha helped Vinicius Jr avoid missing out on the heavyweight clash against Argentina in Brazil’s win over Colombia.
The Selecao recorded a 2-1 victory over the visitors at the Estadio Mane Garrincha on Thursday night to temporarily go second on the log.
Raphinha gave the five-time World champions the lead from the penalty spot six minutes into the match.
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr scored in the ninth minute of added time to give Brazil a late winner over the Colombians.
Vinicius Jr tried to waste time by removing his shin pads while being substituted for Leo Ortiz but Raphinha quickly pushed him off the pitch to avoid being booked.
A yellow card for the 24-year-old would have seen him miss the heavyweight clash against Argentina on Wednesday.
Brazil are temporarily second on the table with 21 points from 13 matches while Argentina are on top with 25 points after 12 matches.
