Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho netted his first goal for Middlesbrough, igniting a comeback that secured a 2-1 victory over Oxford United at Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
Iheanacho, who joined Middlesbrough on loan from Sevilla in January, ended a nearly 18-month league goal drought by scoring early in the second half.
His powerful finish canceled out Michal Helik’s opener for Oxford seven minutes before halftime. The turnaround was completed in the 80th minute when Brazilian defender Neto Borges flicked in his first goal for the club, sealing the victory.
This result marks Middlesbrough’s third consecutive home league win, a feat they last achieved in October 2023. The team is now level on points with sixth-placed West Brom, with seven matches remaining in the season.
