Ikorodu City produced one of the weekend’s best stories, coming from behind to beat newly promoted Ranchers Bees 3-1 in Lagos. Chidozie Okorie’s early opener for Ranchers Bees had threatened to extend the Oga Boys’ winless run on opening day, but goals from Umar Dan’Azumi, Abayomi Ayodeji, and a stoppage-time Farouk Salami penalty completed the turnaround, with Ranchers Bees finishing the match with ten men after Okorie’s red card.
Defending champions Enugu Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, needing a stoppage-time equaliser to avoid an opening-day defeat.
Rivers United made a statement with a comfortable 2-0 win over Plateau United in Port Harcourt, Abdulrasheed Dabai and Wasiu Falolu scoring in the first half.

Doma United began life back in the top flight with a 2-0 win over fellow promoted side Sporting Lagos, and Shooting Stars opened the weekend with a 2-1 win over Inter Lagos on Friday.
The only unfinished business is Abia Warriors against Kun Khalifat, which was suspended due to heavy rain and is set to be completed Monday.
