Beyond the January Window: 3 Nigerian Stars Set for Massive Summer 2026 Transfers

The January window has closed, and for most clubs, their eyes are already fixed on the June transfer summer.

For Nigerians, it was a busy January, recording over 40 successful transfers within the January transfer window, notably the Ademola Lookman €40M move to Atletico Madrid seemed to be the biggest for Nigeria.

However, former Super Captain William Troost Ekong also joined Al Ahli Qatar from Al Kholood and immediately won a trophy with his club. Similarly, Nicole Payne made a free transfer to NWSL side Orlando Pride  after battling an injury for a year.

And the late rumors of Paul Onuachu moving to Juventus could not see the light of day.

And in the 2026 summer transfer window, we are expecting Nigerians to be fully involved in the transfers. In this article, you will read our top 3 Nigerian players who are expected to make a June transfer in 2026 transfer summer.

1) Paul Onuachu

The first player on our list likely to make a summer transfer in 2026 is Paul Onuachu. The Nigerian attacker received late suitors from Italian giants Juventus.

But before the transfer could fall through and all contracts agreed on, the transfer window was closed already, leaving out what would have been a very good marriage.

However, the transfer disappointment did not hinder the goal poacher who ensured that he announced his goal scoring ability for Trabzonspor in their next Türkiye Kupasi game against Fethiyespor.

However, after scoring 31  goals for Trabzonspor in 44 games, eyes have not left the Nigerian attacker, and he will surely be making a shocking transfer in the summer to clubs that are in dire need of a goal scoring attacker.

After his loan spell at Trabzonspor ended in 2024, the Turkish side signed Paul Onuachu for €5.67m from Southampton, and with his market value projected at €6m by transfer market. Paul Onuachu will become an interesting target for clubs during the summer.

2) Raphael Onyedika

After scoring two important goals for Nigeria in the AFCON group stage match against Mozambique, the Nigerian midfielder has been in and out of the transfer business.

Despite not being able to seal a move away from Club Brugge this January Transfer window, his stay with the club might actually come to an end in June 2026.

Raphael Onyedika was arguably the most sought-after midfielder in Europe during the January window. VfL Wolfsburg made a determined effort to sign the Nigerian engine room, but Club Brugge turned down a bid approaching €20m, deciding to hold onto him for their title charge.

Brugge knows they cannot keep the 24-year-old forever. Having established himself as a dominant force in the Belgian Pro League and performed admirably in European competitions, the summer represents the perfect time for Brugge to maximize his resale value.

Onyedika is currently valued at €20m and a  move to the Bundesliga or Premier League will elevate Onyedika from a promising talent to a recognized European midfielder, testing him against the highest tactical and physical standards weekly.

3) Terem Moffi

After a fallout with his former employee OGC Nice, the Nigerian player quickly sought a move out of the French league. However, his escape plan could only lead him to FC Porto on a 6-months contract.

And with his contract with Porto expected to expire in June 2026, he might be making a return back to an already soared relationship with Nice if Porto doesn’t activate his buy option of €8M.

If Moffi performs well in the remaining months of the season, Porto will exercise their option. If not, his market value and proven track record in Ligue 1 mean another top-tier side will swoop in to revitalize his career

A permanent move to Porto puts him in a high-pressure, winning environment, ideal for regaining the confidence and goal-scoring form that once made him one of the most feared strikers in France.

And here are the three Nigerian players we definitely think will make a move in June 2026, if you think we left out a player, don’t forget to add it to the comment section
