Manchester City winger, Jérémy Doku has officially received his Ghanaian passport, formalizing his dual citizenship and strengthening his ties to his ancestral homeland.
The 23-year-old, born in Belgium to Ghanaian parents, was issued the passport following a personal request made during a family visit to Ghana.
Doku received the passport in a ceremony led by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The visit included meetings with key national figures, such as Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, and a courtesy call to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at Manhyia Palace.

His presence in Ghana was widely celebrated, with fans and officials viewing the move as a powerful gesture of cultural pride and national connection.
While he remains an active international player for Belgium, the Ghanaian passport opens the door to deeper engagement with the country, including potential development initiatives in football and youth mentorship.
