Kano Pillars have appointed Daniel Ogunmodede as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The four-time NPFL champions confirmed the appointment in a statement on their official X account on Friday, bringing an end to speculation over who would lead the Sai Masu Gida into the new campaign.
“We’ve reached an agreement to appoint Daniel Ogunmodede (Ijaball) as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 football season,” the club said.
“Welcome to Kano and the Sai Masu Gida family. We are happy to have you with us.”
The 46-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract as he begins a new chapter with one of Nigeria’s most decorated clubs.
Ogunmodede arrives after a remarkable spell with Remo Stars, where he guided the Ikenne-based side to their first-ever NPFL title in the 2024/25 season, ending years of near misses and cementing the club’s place among the country’s top teams.
Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most promising coaches, Ogunmodede stepped down as Technical Adviser of Remo Stars towards the end of last season after overseeing the most successful period in the club’s history.
Alongside his club achievements, Ogunmodede is also part of the Nigeria national football team coaching staff, serving as an assistant to head coach Éric Chelle.
His appointment is expected to boost Kano Pillars’ bid to challenge for major honours once again after several seasons away from the top of Nigerian football.
The club is expected to officially unveil Ogunmodede in the coming days as preparations continue for the start of the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.
