AFCON 2025
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State was recently seen in the company of NBA superstar LeBron James, alongside other global sports icons including NFL legend Tom Brady, football star Didier Drogba, and tennis great Rafael Nadal.
The meeting took place aboard a luxury yacht in Monaco, where Sanwo-Olu was pictured taking selfies and mingling with the celebrities in what has since gone viral on social media.
The gathering was held as part of events surrounding the E1 Series, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing competition, of which LeBron James is a part-owner.
During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that the next leg of the E1 Series will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 4–5, 2025. This marks a major milestone for the state as it prepares to host a global sporting event that promotes sustainability and innovation.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s presence at the international event is part of his broader efforts to promote Lagos as a hub for investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
