Former Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, is full of praise for Ashleigh Plumptre after her impressive performance at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The four-time WAFCON winner says Plumptre is carrying on her legacy in the national team in a tweet she shared on her X page on Monday.

Onome Ebi hailed the 27-year-old defender for her discipline, dedication, and consistency so far in the tournament.

Ebi went on to reveal that she shares the same birthday with Plumptre, and she is pleased that she inherited her jersey number after she retired from the Super Falcons in 2023.

Best replacement for my #5 jersey, which means a lot to me after 20 years. Same birthday 8 May, just a name change from Ebi to Plumptre . 5. The energy, discipline, consistency, and dedication are almost the same . I am proud . The Legacy continues

Onome Ebi played for the Super Falcons between 2003 and 2023, where she won four WAFCON titles. She also represented Nigeria five times at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
