Yassine Cheuko, Lionel Messi’s trusted bodyguard, has broken his silence after being banned from accessing the pitch during MLS games.
Cheuko, a former Navy SEAL, has been Messi’s personal security detail since his move to the United States in 2023. He has become a familiar figure at Inter Miami matches, often seen sprinting down the sidelines to prevent pitch invaders from getting close to the Argentine superstar.

However, MLS has now imposed restrictions on Cheuko, limiting his role to behind-the-scenes security.
“They don’t allow me to be on the field anymore,” Cheuko revealed in an interview with House of Highlights.
“I was in Europe for seven years working for Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and only six people invaded the pitch. I arrived in the United States, and in 20 months of work, 16 people have already invaded the pitch.
“There’s a huge problem here. I’m not the problem. Let me help Messi,” Cheuko stated.
Despite being sidelined during matches, Cheuko remains a crucial part of Messi’s security team, providing round-the-clock protection for the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and his family.
