Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has become a free agent as his contract with Barcelona expired on the last day of June.
Although Barcelona were hopeful of signing Messi to renewal before the June 30 deadline, the 34-year-old is now officially unattached.
Barcelona still believes that Messi will eventually sign a new deal, but his status as a free agent has started generating transfer rumours.

Talks over a new contract are believed to be ongoing, meaning Messi may well decide to stay at the Nou Camp.
Messi is currently away in Brazil on international duties as he seeks his first national team trophy.
