Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has apologized to Nigerians for his missed goal-scoring opportunity against Zimbabwe in their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Ndidi had been playing well, but his efforts were overshadowed by a glaring missed opportunity to put Nigeria 2-0 up after Victor Osimhen’s hard-fought opening goal.
The midfielder received backlash from fans after squandering a golden opportunity. His failure to convert from close range ultimately proved costly, as Zimbabwe equalized in the 90th minute through Tawanda Chirewa.
Some frustrated Nigerian fans took to social media to express their disappointment with Ndidi’s performance, particularly his missed opportunity.
In response, the Leicester City star acknowledged his mistake and urged Nigerians not to be annoyed, reminding them that nobody is perfect in their job.
“Please make una no vex for goal wey I miss. Nobody perfect for him job.”
Ndidi wrote on his Instagram story. The Super Eagles’ next World Cup qualifier is against Rwanda in September.
