Man City mounts pressure on Arsenal with win over Chelsea

Manchester City put in a dominant second-half display to secure a clean sheet and maximum points over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Following Arsenal’s loss to Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime kickoff, Pep Guardiola’s men took advantage of the slip-up to blow the title race open for the umpteenth time.

Manchester City appeared lacklustre in the early exchanges as they struggled to contain Chelsea’s press.

Marc Cucurella thought he had given Chelsea the lead in the opening quarter with a left-footed strike into the bottom corner.

However, his goal was ruled offside by the video assistant referee upon review.

Chelsea and Manchester City practically did an exchange in the second half with City ruthless in front of goal while Chelsea looked out of sorts.

Nico O’Reilly continued his impressive run of form as he put City ahead with a header off a brilliant lofted ball from Rayan Cherki.

Rayan Cherki again provided the assist for Marc Guehi’s first Premier League goal for City since he joined from Crystal Palace four months ago.

The English defender received a pass in the box, turned swiftly before burying the ball into the. Bottom left-corner of Sanchez’s goal.

Jeremy Doku sealed the win as he dispossessed Caicedo close to Chelsea’s box. The Belgian midfielder races towards goal and buried the ball into the near-post to give Manchester City a 3-0 win.
