The game was hardly overflowing with quality, but after a dull first half, things opened up after the break as both sides tested each other with some smart chances. Phil Foden and Joshua Zirkzee had their sides’ best opportunities, but neither could provide the finishing touch needed to snatch all three points.
For United, a draw sees Ruben Amorim’s side end the weekend in 13th, climbing back above Tottenham Hotspur after their 3-1 victory over Southampton earlier in the day.
On the other side of the coin, this will feel like a missed opportunity for City, who could have climbed above Chelsea and into the top four.
Instead, they remain fifth, one point behind the Blues and two ahead of Newcastle United, who still have two games in hand.
