Lionel Messi’s achieved yet another milestone as he equaled the English legend David Beckham’s career free kicks; when he scored against Ecuador to give the world champions maximum three points in their World Cup qualifier.

David Beckham, renowned for his bending free kicks, has long been regarded as one of the best free-kick takers in football history in his playing days. However, Messi proves once again that his up there amongst the very best when it comes to dead ball situations.

Throughout his illustrious career with Barcelona and later Paris Saint-Germain, Messi has delighted fans around the world with his stunning free-kick goals. His ability to curl the ball around defensive walls and place it perfectly into the net is nothing short of remarkable.

Messi’s matched the record by scoring his 65th free kick and his 12 short of the all time free kick specialist Juninho who scored a whooping 77 before he retired. The Argentine captain might be edging close to retirement but it’s looking like he can achieve the record of surpassing Juninho, but only time will tell.
