Former Big Brother Naija housemate and professional boxer Mike Edwards, popularly known as Machine Mike, has challenged Nigerian streamer and content creator Carter Efe to a boxing match.
Edwards issued the challenge on Monday, accusing Carter Efe of avoiding a potential matchup despite repeatedly calling for tougher opponents.
“I’ve been right here the whole time,” Edwards wrote in a social media post directed at Carter Efe, adding that he had first challenged the streamer before his celebrity boxing debut.
According to Edwards, he initially encouraged Carter Efe to build his record with early fights before the two could eventually meet in what he described as a “super fight.”
Carter Efe has since competed in three celebrity boxing bouts, including a unanimous decision victory over singer Portable in May 2026 and another win over rapper Speed Darlington at the Chaos in the Ring event in Lagos on October 1.
Edwards, meanwhile, has a 1-0 professional boxing record, having defeated Jake Cornish by unanimous decision on a Misfits Boxing card in Dublin in August 2024.
“Fast forward – you’ve had 3 fights, I’ve had 1. So what’s the excuse now?” Edwards asked. “Quit fighting these bums and accept the real challenge.”
While acknowledging Carter Efe’s commercial success, Edwards called on him to provide more competitive matchups for fans.
“Look, I understand get your bag. But give the people value for their money,” he said.
Edwards also revealed that he has contacted Dr. Eazy Adamu of Balmoral Promotions, the promoter behind the Chaos in the Ring series, in an attempt to get the proposed bout organised.
However, the potential fight would not take place immediately. Edwards is scheduled to return to the ring on November 7 in Dubai under Muka Boxing, marking his first fight in two years.
He said he intends to deal with that bout before turning his attention to a possible showdown with Carter Efe in Nigeria.
“I’ll handle my business November 7th in Dubai … then let’s give Nigeria the fight they actually want. Machine Mike vs Carter Efe,” Edwards wrote.
Carter Efe has yet to publicly respond to the challenge. Following his latest victory, the streamer expressed interest in taking on international opponents, including American personality DDG and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
A potential Edwards-Carter Efe bout would add another major matchup to Nigeria’s growing influencer boxing scene, with Edwards bringing professional boxing experience and Carter Efe coming off three celebrity boxing contests.
