Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is keen on joining the London club.
Mikel, who played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s midfield from 2006 to 2017, indicated that a transfer for Osimhen could be straightforward if negotiations resume.
“I know exactly where we stopped. If we have to pick it up again in the summer, it’s just pretty easy to get it done because the player really wants to come to the football club,” Mikel stated.
Chelsea had previously pursued Osimhen during the last summer transfer window. However, the deal fell through due to unresolved personal terms, leading to Osimhen’s loan move to Turkish club Galatasaray from Napoli.
Osimhen has been in remarkable form at Galatasaray, netting 26 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions. His performance has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
Mikel emphasized that acquiring a top striker is crucial for Chelsea’s aspirations. He mentioned both Osimhen and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as ideal candidates to bolster the club’s attacking options.
