Niger Tornadoes have ended their seven-game winless streak as the “Solid Miners” edge title contenders Rivers United on Thursday evening in a rescheduled NPFL match.
Terdoo Shimagande scored the only goal of the match in the second half to give the host their first victory since January.
Rivers United’s poor run of form away from home continues with three consecutive losses on the road.
The result leaves the Pride of Rivers on top of the table nonetheless but with a slim lead over Enugu Rangers.
With eight matches left, Rivers United lead with 52 points, Enugu Rangers with 50 pints while Ikorodu City and Nasawara United occupy the third and fourth spots with 48 and 47 points respectively.
Rivers United will look to get back to winning when they play Nasawara United away on matcday 31 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
