Nigeria 3-0 Benin: Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman tipped to win 2024 Africa Player of the Year award

According to Nigerian football fans, Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman will win the 2024 Africa Player of the Year award.

In a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Cheetahs of Benin Republic 3-0 on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The crowd at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo was frustrated as the Super Eagles wasted numerous opportunities against a defensively organized coach Gernot Rohr.

The only goal of the first half came from Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman in extra time.

Ademola Lookman bagged a brace, Victor Osimhen came on to score as the Super Eagles of Nigeria destroyed Benin Republic 3-0 in their 1st AFCON 2025 qualifier. (X/Pooja)

Interim Head Coach Austin Eguavoen introduced Victor Osimhen, and the new Galatasaray man made it two goals by converting a cross by Wilfred Ndidi.

A cross by Moses Simon was headed in by Lookman to seal a comfortable victory.

After the victory, Nigerian football fans were hyped on social media.

According to Nigerian football fans, Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman will win the 2024 Africa Player of the Year award.

Lookman rose to the top of the trends with praises for his brace and outstanding performances,

Lookman was the Super Eagles’ attacking talisman as they advanced to the 2024 AFCON championship game earlier this year.

Ever since, he has been playing at an incredible level, helping Atalanta win the 2024 Europa League.

According to Nigerian football fans, Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman will win the 2024 Africa Player of the Year award.

The 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist included only one African, Lookman, but Nigerians think he deserves more recognition.

He received a ton of appreciation from Nigerian football supporters, who said he deserves to be the 2024 African Footballer of the Year winner.

Lookman is expected to lead from the front when the Super Eagles return to action against the Amavubi of Rwanda in their next AFCON qualifier.
