Nigerian football fans have taken to socal media to react to Super Eagles failure to secure maximum points against Zimbabwe in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
Super Eagles hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup suffered a setback as they failed to beat Zimbabwe in Uyo.
Zimbabwe scored a late equalizer in Uyo to cancel out Victor Osimhen’s opener in the 74th minute.
Football fans online appear to be divided on who should take the blame for the disappointing result.
Here’s how Nigerians are reacting online.
1. Best African Actor
The NFA will waste the super eagles golden generation by signing terrible coaches upon terrible coaches. Same way Belgium’s Golden generation was wasted too.
2. Aikhume
This set of Super Eagles players are the most unserious we’ve ever had.. Na to d shine teeth off the pitch with them Pooja, Kelechi afc and those rubbish influencers them sabi.. When it’s time to do their job they turn to vegetables.
F all ya!
3. Young King
Person say na this same eagle symbol wey wizkid follow super eagles get dey worry them 😟😂
4. Nathaniel Daniel
Super Eagles gather content creators say na players.
Only Victor Osimhen and a couple others take national assignments serious.
They don’t know where to draw the line between work and play.
Play. Play. All. Day. All. Night.

5. Major
All these “Giant of Africa” shenanigans na just for mouth.
We no dey show workings.
Things wey we suppose dey lead, we dey struggle badly.
Tell me how the Super Eagles filled with players that play in top European teams are struggling to qualify for the WC, it’s really sad.
6. Muiz of Arsenal
Super eagles are shit. The only ones who does most of everything are just osihmen and lookman. Iwobi should learn how to dominate the midfield well. And as for chuckueze and Moses they need to be more effective when pressing opponents in the box 18
7. Eleniyan
Remove Chukwueze and Bright Osayi for Bruno and Onyedika.
Ola aina come back to RB, Bruno LB, Oyedika and Ndidi DM, Iwobi move upfront and play free role, Mola move back to hold the Left flank and Moses Simon Right flank. Wallahi we’re popping them 4 nill before 60 mins.
8. Kene
Ndidi and Ekong, arguably the two most experienced players in the team combine to produce a sunday league level of defending.
Not good enough to qualify for the World Cup I’m afraid.
9. PBTips
Na NDIDI sell this match sha
Cos he suppose score that easy chance
10. Osausu Obayiuwana
No one should blame #EricChelle for the @NGSuperEagles ‘loss’ to #Zimbabwe. It is 💯% on the players.
11. Omo shola
This one isn’t on Eric Chelle. He went to win, he fielded a team to win and a gameplay to win. God will Judge Chukwueze and friends.
12. Hayor_Dheji
Dear Eric Chelle,
You did not need Boniface when Osimehn was going out. You should have thrown in another defender to defend your lead.
I hope you learn from this costly mistake going forward.
Warm Regards.
13. The Repair Man
Whoever told Eric Chelle that being the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria was an easy job did him wrong. Wait first, are all these emotions because of Zimbabwe?
14. Sali
If you are thinking Eric Chelle is the problem, na God go punish you
15. Devoyce
Eric Chelle could and should have helped that defense line. He’d get his own share of the blame. And it’s all down to knowing your squad well enough!
That defence was knackered he needed to help them with fresher legs. The team comfortably plays a 3 -5-2 bring an extra CB and help the defensive shape. Manage the game.
Micheal Nees kept bring fresher legs in attack Éric was watching and didn’t react directly to that. You know it’s trouble coming when these attackers are coming on! You surely know!!!! It’s so basic! You have to react defensively!! Those boys were all tired!
But I guess he’s new and still trying to understand the
squad!
