Reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman says he’s not under pressure but ready to unleash he’ll on Rwanda this Friday.
Lookman will feature in his first match for the Super Eagles since he became the new African Footballer of the Year in January.
The Atalanta forward spoke with France-based journalist Ojora Babarunde after Wednesday’s training session about the team’s readiness for the match.
The 27-year-old says he’s glad to be back in the team and looking forward to the match against the Amavubi.
No, not any pressure. I’m just glad to be back with the squad, back with the guys.
We have a big task ahead of us and we’re looking forward to it.
Ademola Lookman also added that the coach has had several meetings with the team on how he wants them to play in different phases of the game.
We’ve had loads of meetings about how the manager wants us to play, our game plan and aspects of how we defend and attack, so it’s all positive.
We’re all keyed into his ideas and as a group we’ve had our second session today and yesterday’s session went well as well, so positive feelings.
When he asked if he was able to deduce any tactical message from the training sessions so far, Lookman said the players have just been getting ideas from the sessions.
No, before training we had meetings and like I said, how the manager wants us to play.
So we just implemented that today in the training. So yeah, just getting ideas.
Ademola Lookman will look to get his first goal in the qualification series after playing three matches.
The Atalanta forward has been in brilliant form this season with 18 goals, 7 assi8in 30 matches for Atalanta.
