A late penalty from Mohamed Salah handed Liverpool a 3-2 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu went off injured.
The Reds were involved in a topsy-turvy encounter at St Mary’s Stadium as they took the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai before Southampton levelled the scores after Adam Armstrong scored from a penalty he had earlier missed.
Southampton, who had earlier subbed off Adam Lallana due to injury, suffered more injury disappointment as Onuachu was forced off injured after an impressive first half display.
The hosts took the lead in the second half after a brilliant effort counter attack was finished off by Mateus Fernandes.
However, Salah’s double in the second half ensured the points would return to Merseyside with Arne Slot’s men as they opened up an eight point advantage at the top of the standings.
