As the “Hell” of RAMS Park prepares to freeze over for the visit of English giants Liverpool, all eyes are on one man: Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian superstar, fresh off a decisive derby winner against Beşiktaş, is the focal point of a Galatasaray side looking to repeat their shock 1-0 victory over the Reds from earlier this season.
Osimhen enters the clash in blistering form with 18 goals across all competitions this season. If the Turkish champions are to secure a first-leg advantage, here are three things their talisman must do.
1. Master the “High-Concentration” Finish
Osimhen recently opened up about his previous struggles against Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, noting he had to maintain “high concentration” to finally beat the Brazilian earlier in the campaign.
Osimhen must apply that same mental intensity against Alison Becker tomorrow. With Liverpool conceding just 8.6 shots per 90 minutes in Europe, Osimhen cannot afford to waste a single opening.
2. Dictate the Physical Battle with Van Dijk
Tactical analysts at Squawka highlight that Osimhen’s ability to “ruffle feathers” is Galatasaray’s greatest weapon. Boasting a 58% aerial success rate in the Champions League, he must use his physicality to pin Virgil van Dijk and Gomez, creating second-ball opportunities for teammates like Mauro Icardi or Barış Alper Yılmaz.
By winning his 3.7 aerial duels per 90, he can transform long clearances into offensive transitions.
3. Lead the Defensive Press from the Front

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has stressed the importance of being “careful” against Liverpool’s transition play.
Osimhen, who commits nearly one foul per game in his pursuit of the ball, must lead the first line of defense. If he can disrupt Liverpool’s build-up play from the back, he will prevent the visitors from establishing the rhythm that has seen them win 62 of their last 100 games under Arne Slot.
Galatasaray hosts Liverpool tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the RAMS Park in Istanbul for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
