French forward Ousmane Dembele has won the FIFA The Best Men’s Player of the Year Award after a remarkable year for club and country.
A few months after he won the prestigious Ballon d’Or Award, the PSG forward has picked up another important prize to wrap up the year.
The former Barcelona forward beat the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Raphinha, Mohammed Salah, Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane, and his PSG teammate, Vitinha, to the prize on Tuesday evening.
Ousmane Dembele scored 35 goals and provided 13 assists in 54 matches as he led PSG to a domestic double last season.
He also won the French Super Cup as well as the European Super Cup, as he enjoyed unarguably the best season yet of his career.
Dembele was also instrumental in PSG’s historic Champions League victory as the French champions dismantled Inter Milan to win their first-ever title in May.
He becomes the second French player, after Zinedine Zidane, to win the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year Award.
In the women’s category, Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati won her third award, while the coach of the Three Lionesses, Sarina Wiegman, won the Coach of the Year Award – her fifth in the category.
Luis Enrique, coach of the reigning European champions, PSG, was named coach of the year after learning the French club to five titles in the year under review.
