Marseille legend Dimitri Payet has encouraged Paul Pogba to join the Ligue 1 giants and link up with ex-Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood.
With Pogba’s doping ban reduced to 18 months, he’ll be eligible to play again in March 2025.
Payet expressed his enthusiasm for the potential transfer, saying:
“Like all Marseille supporters, of course, it’s a dream [for Pogba to join the club]. After that, whether it’s true or not, I can’t tell you more.
“I’ve rubbed shoulders with him in the national team, he’s rubbed shoulders with other former Marseille players, he knows where he’s going.
“He’s already played here, a club like Marseille can only benefit him.”
Payet played for OM from 2013-2015 and then from 2017-2023 after he left West Ham to return to France.
It remains to be seen what Pogba’s decision will be, but the midfielder will not be short of options, with the likes of Manchester City and even MLS side Inter Miami linked in recent weeks.
