PSG run riot against Brest to storm into Champions League last 16

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a historic performance tonight, overwhelming Brest with a 7-0 victory at Parc des Princes to secure their spot in the Champions League last 16.

This dominant display resulted in a 10-0 aggregate triumph, marking PSG’s most decisive win in European competition and the heaviest defeat ever suffered by a French team in the tournament.

From the opening whistle, PSG asserted their dominance, moving the ball with precision and pressing high up the pitch. Brest, already trailing 3-0 from the first leg, struggled to keep pace with the intensity of Luis Enrique’s men.

The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Bradley Barcola capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home PSG’s first of the night.

Shortly before halftime, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, PSG’s winter signing, opened his Champions League account with a composed finish, doubling the lead and effectively putting the tie beyond Brest’s reach.

PSG showed no signs of slowing down after the interval. Vitinha made it 3-0 in the 58th minute with a well-placed shot from outside the box, leaving Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot helpless. Moments later, Désiré Doué added his name to the scoresheet with a clinical strike after a dazzling team move.

Nuno Mendes, making his return from injury, contributed a stunning goal in the 70th minute, capping off an excellent individual performance. Gonçalo Ramos continued the onslaught with a powerful header, before teenager Senny Mayulu completed the rout in the dying moments with a cool finish.

The result marked PSG’s biggest-ever victory in European competition and the heaviest defeat suffered by a French team in the Champions League. Perhaps even more remarkable, seven different players found the net—a first in the tournament’s history.

PSG manager Luis Enrique praised his team’s ruthlessness: “This is the kind of performance we want to see more often. Every player contributed, and the hunger for goals was evident. We respect Brest, but we had a job to do, and we did it in style.”

With their place in the Round of 16 secured, PSG now turn their focus to the next stage of the competition, where they could face European heavyweights like Liverpool or Barcelona.

Having fallen short in recent years, including a runner-up finish in 2020, PSG hopes this could finally be their season to lift the coveted Champions League trophy.

Meanwhile, Brest, who were enjoying a strong domestic campaign, will look to recover from this bruising defeat as they shift focus back to Ligue 1.
