Arsenal’s dream of winning four trophies this season is still on after progressing into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Mikel Arteta’s men secured a 2-1 win over League One side Mansfield to become the first team to qualify for the last eight of the competition.
Goals from former Chelsea winger, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze powered the Gunners over the home side on Saturday lunchtime kickoff at the One Call Stadium.
Arsenal started the better side as expected and came close to finding the opener on two occasions but Liam Roberts pulled off great saves to deny Max Dowman and Madueke.
With four minutes to the break, Noni Madueke received a pass from Gabriel Martinelli on the edge of the box before powering a shot into the top corner to give Arsenal the lead.
Will Evans took advantage of Arsenal’s 16-year-old defender, Marli Salmon’s error to grab the equaliser five minutes after the break.
Eberechi Eze, off the bench restored Arsenal’s lead six minutes after the hour mark with a brilliant finish off an assist from Christian Norgaard.
The win put the Gunners three steps closer to another final this season having qualified for the League Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on March 22nd.
