Barcelona momentarily increased their lead over Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings to seven points after sealing a win over Osassuna at Camp Nou.

The defending champions dug deep to get the win as the vistors kept a low block for most part of the match.

Ferran Torres put the hosts ahead in the 23rd minute but his celebration and that of his teammates were cut as the goal was disallowed  for offside in the build up.

The first half ended in a stalemate as Barcelona failed to breach the resolute defense of men from Pamplona.

The second half started with renewed momentum from the Catalan giants as they sought for the opener.

Atletico Madrid sealed a win over Valencia on Saturday afternoon to within Villarreal’s reach.

Even though Diego Simeone’s Red and White created the better chances at goal, it was quite a rough match for the host.

Valencia were en route to leaving the Wanda Metropolitano with a point until Anitime Griezmann scored 15 minutes from time.

Despite playing two matches more than Villarreal, Atletico remain in fourth position with 34 points while the Yellow Submarines have a point more.

Getafe were the only team that did not win at home in Saturday.

Leandro Cabrera’s second half goal gave Espanyol the win as they climb to fifth with 30 points from 16 matches.
