Rasmus Hojlund’s brace drags Manchester United into Europa League top 8

Manchester United have broken into the Europa League top 8 after securing a win over Viktoria Plzen.

The Red Devils had to dig deep as they came from.a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic side.

Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund came off of the bench to score twice in the second half for Rubem Amorim’s men.

The Red Devils as expected dominated proceedings from the blast of the first whistle in bid to get an early goal.

Despite having a large chunk of possession, the Red Devils struggled to break down the home side.

Bruno Fernandes canw close to giving Manchester United the lead few minutes before the break but his shot from outside the box was dealt with.

The home side surprisingly took the lead three minutes into the second half. Vydra took advantage of Andre Onana’s misplaced pass and struck the ball into an empty net.

The introduction of Hojlund, Mount and Antony changed the course of the game for the Red Devils.

Hojlund tapped the ball into into an empty as well at the other end from a rebound after a brilliant run of play from Amad Diallo..

Mason Mount had two chances to bury the game nut the former Chelsea midfielder failed to convert both chances.

Rasmus Hojlund eventually gave Manchester United the lead as he controlled Bruno Fernandes pass from a free kick before powering a left-footed strike home.

Hojlund brace put up on top of the scorers chart of the competition with 5 goals in 6 matches so far.

The win over Viktoria Plzen means the Ref Devils are now in 6th place on the log with two matches to the end of the leaguw format.

The top eight teams after matchday 8 will qualify automatically for the second round of the competition.

However, the next 16 teams on the log will go for the playoffs where eight teams will secure tickets for the second round.
