Real Madrid youngstar Endrick linked to a shock move to Southampton

Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa has been linked with a potential move to Premier League side Southampton.

Reports in the United Kingdom suggest Southampton are eager to sign the 18-year-old Brazilian striker on loan in January as he struggles to secure regular game time.

Endrick joined Real Madrid this summer from Palmeiras for a reported €60 million fee. The Spanish champions reached an agreement with Palmeiras and Endrick’s family in 2022.

On 25 August 2024, the 18-year-old made his official debut for Real Madrid, scoring in a 3-0 home win over Valladolid in a La Liga match. Entering as a second-half substitute, he scored the third goal, announcing his arrival to the fans in style.

At 18 years and 35 days old, Endrick became the youngest player to score for Real Madrid in La Liga, surpassing former defender Raphaël Varane, who scored against Rayo Vallecano at 18 years and 152 days.

He also made history in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the youngest player to score for Real Madrid. On 17 September 2024, he netted the final goal in the club’s 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart, setting another record as the youngest Brazilian to score in the competition at 18 years and 58 days.

Despite his historic achievements, Endrick’s playing time has significantly reduced, with Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo dominating Carlo Ancelotti’s preferred attacking lineup.

Although no formal talks have taken place between Real Madrid and Southampton, reports indicate the Premier League side is keen to bring the Brazilian striker to St. Mary’s Stadium on a six-month loan.
