Remo Stars FC have clinched their first-ever Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title, securing a historic 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The match was decided by a stunning 84th-minute strike from substitute Olamilekan Adedayo, which proved to be the match-winner.
The goal sparked wild celebrations among the home supporters in Ikenne, as Remo Stars sealed the victory and ensured their place at the top of the league.
With 68 points and three games still to play, the Sky Blue Stars’ title triumph is now mathematically beyond reach, marking a major milestone in the club’s history under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede.
In other fixtures, Sunshine Stars triumphed 2-0 over Katsina United, while Nasarawa United edged out Heartland with a 1-0 win. Bayelsa United defeated El-Kanemi Warriors at home and Bendel Insurance fell to Plateau, both matches ending 2-1.
It was a good outing for Akwa United as they edged Ikorodu City 2-1, and Kwara United thrahsed Lobi Stars 4-0. Abia Warriors welcomed Shooting Stars with the game ending 3-1 in favour of the host side while Enyimba clinched a 2-1 away victory against Rangers.
