Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has tipped PSG midfielder Vitinha for the Ballon d’Or, praising his crucial role in PSG’s historic Treble this season.
PSG secured the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France, and a commanding 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Speaking to A Bola after Portugal’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory against Germany, Martinez highlighted Vitinha’s essential contributions, stating he deserves to be crowned the world’s best player.

However, Vitinha faces tough competition, with his PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé considered the leading candidate for the award.
Additionally, Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal has emerged as another strong frontrunner, but Martinez insists Vitinha must win.
“Vitinha is a player who has been essential for PSG to win everything they have won. He deserves to be awarded the Ballon d’Or.”
The last time a Portuguese player won the Ballon d’Or was back in 2017, when Cristiano Ronaldo won his 5th. While the chances are slim, Vitinha’s performances certainly put him in the discussion.
