Sels stalls Arsenal’s title charge at City Ground, Chelsea see-off Brentford as Burnley hold Liverpool at Anfield

Mats Sels put up a brilliant display on Saturday evening as Nottingham Forest held Arsenal to a stalemate at the City Ground.

The Belgian shot-stopper denied the Gunners on three occasions to help the Tricky Trees secure a vital point as they continue their fight to stay clear of the drop zone.

Mikel Arteta’s men struggled to play through Sean Dyche’s low block as they were forced wide and put in crosses, which were dealt with quite easily.

Michael Oliver waved off Arsenal’s protest for a penalty in the 80th minute after Ola Aina appeared to have handled the ball in the box.

Arsenal, once again, failed to take advantage of Manchester City’s poor run after the Cityzens lost to rivals, Manchester United, in the derby earlier on.

Meanwhile, Chelsea ended their five-game winless streak in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon with a win over city rivals, Brentford, at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer (from the penalty spot) scored in each half, respectively, to hand the new boss, Liam Rosenior, a win in his first Premier League match in charge.

Liverpool’s resurgence stalled as Burnley snatched a point at Anfield to keep their hope of surviving alive.

Mark Edwards cancelled out Florian Wirtz’s opener in the 65th minute as he got to the end of Florentino’s pass before burying the ball into the bottom corner.

Dominik Szobozlai missed the chance to give Liverpool the lead from a spot kick in the first half before Wirtz eventually did, but missed as his effort smashed the crossbar.
