The Golden State Warriors saw their strong start to the season curtailed by the Los Angeles Clippers, losing 112-104 on Sunday night.

Stephen Curry left midway through the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury as Ivica Zubac dominated with 23 points and 18 rebounds, while Andrew Wiggins kept the Warriors close with 29 points, including a crucial 3-pointer with 3:47 left.

Curry scored 18 points with six assists but exited the game for good with 7:55 remaining after tweaking his ankle late in the third quarter. He briefly tried to return but couldn’t continue.

The Warriors’ medical team will run tests to determine the severity, but initial indications suggest a short absence for the 36-year-old superstar.

The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard due to a right knee injury but James Harden filled the void expertly, scoring 23 points and adding 11 assists, including 100% from the free-throw line (9/9).
