Stockport County have announced the signing of central defender, Joseph Olowu, who joins on a free transfer from Doncaster Rovers.
The 25‑year‑old, born in Ibadan, Nigeria, has penned a three-year contract with the League One side, set to take effect on 1 July 2025.
Olowu arrives at Edgeley Park following an impressive campaign with Doncaster in the 2024‑25 season. He made 39 appearances across all competitions, netting three goals, and played a key part in their League Two title success.
Over four years with Doncaster, he amassed 144 appearances and scored eight goals before rejecting a new contract to embrace a fresh challenge.
Olowu, who is eligible to represent both Nigeria and England at international level, reacted positively to the move, stating his ambition to grow with Stockport as they build for the upcoming League One campaign.
This marks Stockport’s first summer acquisition and represents a strategic move by the club to reinforce their defence ahead of the 2025–26 season.
