Super Eagles fly over Uganda to finish with maximum points

Nigeria’s Super Eagles breezed past Uganda in their last group game as finished with maximum points.

Coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle made seven changes to his side with the likes of Raphael Onyedika, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Francis Uzoho (GK) Igor Ogbu coming into the line-up.

Uganda came into the game needing a win to progress into the last sixteen of the competition but Nigeria exerted dominance from the blast of the first whistle.

After missing a chance earlier, Paul Onuachu scored his first goal for Nigeria as he put the Super Eagles ahead on the 28th minute.

The Trabzonspor striker had only the net to beat as he scored off Dele-Bashiru’s pass inside the box.

Things got worse for the Cranes a few minutes into the second half as Salim Magoola, Uganda’s goalkeeper touched the ball with his hands outside the box and was got was sent off.

Nigeria took advantage of the numerical difference as they found more spaces down the right channel.

Raphael Onyedika bagged a brace in quick succession to put Nigeria 3-0 up in the one-sided tie before the 70th minute mark.

A lapse in concentration in defense gifted the Cranes a consolation in the 73rd minute courtesy of Roger Mato.

The Super Eagles will take on either fierce rivals Cameroon or Mozambique in the round of sixteen as they continue their charge for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title.
